Edge of NFT Launches “This is #1” NFT Giveaway
The Edge of NFT Podcast is partnering with Chemical X, an anonymous contemporary artist, and Risidio, a UK-based start-up company empowering artists with Web 3.0 technology, to give away 25 limited edition NFTs celebrating the launch of Chemical X’s recent NFT collection, This is Number One. This curated collection of one-of-a-kind NFT artworks, created in conjunction with prominent individuals from the arts and built on Bitcoin via the Stacks Blockchain, features Cara Delevigne, Orbital, Dave Stewart, Fatboy Slim, and artist-curator Chemical X himself.
Chemical X is a British contemporary artist who prefers to remain anonymous and whose work does not appear in art galleries or auction houses. He prefers not to engage with the art establishment on traditional terms. Chemical X has exhibited in London, Lisbon, and Los Angeles, and his work regularly sells for over $100,000. Chemical X stated in his interview with Edge of NFT co-hosts Jeff Kelley, Josh Kriger, and Eathan Janney that he has no ambition to establish a style that would imprison him, forcing him to become a performing monkey, a slave to his own hand.
Chemical X, as an artist, aspires to be a bridge for other creatives to enter the realm of NFTs. He is facilitating the creation of one-of-a-kind creative creations with others that are interesting, playful, thought-provoking, powerful, and beautiful — practically everything that excellent art is, but with two (or more) minds instead of just one. In collaboration with Risidio, a company focused on integrating blockchain tech, art, and fundraising for good causes was founded during the height of the pandemic. Chemical X has been inviting a diverse group of people from various disciplines and backgrounds to collaborate on a short moving-image artwork.
The #1 is square in format, and the sole creative requirement is that it carries the remark ‘This is number one,’ either visually or audibly. Minimum 10% from the proceeds of all sales goes to good causes chosen by the collaborating artist and the charity will continue to benefit from all subsequent sales of the artwork every time it is traded.
